75” tall wooden trekking stick, thin lightweight diamond willow, cool camping trail climbing pole, we can shorten, add handle, engrave, usa. We can shorten, at no charge. We’ll happily cut it down for you. Just let us know the length you want. Measure twice and we’ll cut once. (see size guide below). An unusually thin hiking staff considering its length. It’s sturdy and thick enough for the average adult, but it’s incredibly rare to find one so tall that’s not too thick. Girth: hand grip will fit a med-xl adult hand, but is best for med-lg (determined by what size work or winter glove you wear), as it is now. Might fit a small hand. I’m not sure. See dimensions below in specs section. Also, we can often make it thinner by sanding it down (no charge) or thicker by adding a handgrip (see upgrades below). Has curves: this walking staff has a few curves, making it extra intriguing, but the stick stands straight for the most part (ie, comes back to center). All bumps are rounded down a bit, and all is sanded smooth so it’s comfortable to hold in almost any position on this stick (another rarity). There are diamonds on the side that don’t impede, but rather the indents make great finger grips and hand guides, should your hand happen upon them. Upgrades: we can add. See’upgrades’ section below. I use a walking cane daily (or hiking staff for woods trompsing), and have had the same hiking staff and cane for several years, and i take pride in making sure you get a beautiful, strong and sturdy walking staff to last for many years. Crafted with mosquito juice, sweat and love. Top diameter:1.25 in. Bottom diameter: 1-1/8 in. Hand crafted in usa. Max wt: 300 lbs. The hiking stick in the first few photos is the one you will get. Great for hiking or camping trips, as well as every day use to help you get around, taking pressure off your knees, hips, etc. Make a great substitute for a walking cane, too. This walking staff is a ooak (one of a kind) item made from native northern minnesota diamond willow tree, and handcrafted by me, a local, experienced artisan. Sustainably harvested in northern mn. Main bark removed by hand. Dried/cured for several months, naturally by air. Given 5 coats of clear polyurethane. Comes with new black rubber protector boot. Size guide: for flat terrain, or rolling hills and groomed trails, a walking staff should be about 4-6 above the elbow, or a few inches below the shoulder. For hilly terrain, a stick that’s shoulder height or even a few inches above the shoulder is often preferred to help when descending. About max weight: 300 lbs. If used for regular hiking. No pole vaulting, etc. This can probably hold more weight, but i wouldn’t want to guarantee that since i’m “only” 200 lbs. And test each stick to make sure it’s sturdy, just by trying to bend it, but i don’t run and jump with it. Wood does age, so be sure to inspect your gear regularly before use. If you need a stick that will hold more weight: please message us and let us know the weight limit you need, and your height. I’d be happy to guide you toward sticks in our shop that are thicker, or we most likely have one such stick in stock but just haven’t listed it yet. Or i could cut a few inches off a walking stick you like, as that always makes it stronger. However, please inspect all your equipment before each use to make sure no cracks or weaknesses have developed over time. No stains, paints or colors addedjust fives coats of clear poly finish. Covered with an exceptional array of diamonds, with all sorts of wonderful twisting curves and a variety of tan, caramel, dark brown and reddish brown colors. This stick has a few particularly deep diamonds (difficult to capture in photos) that are beautiful alone, and perfect for embedding more stones or charms into them, if you wish. Has a few insect and/or worm hole markings on this stick. Worm and other insect markings are actually coveted, as they are more rare than diamonds themselves. They help create a unique design, character to the stick, and add another dimension to the story of how efficient nature works. The worms or insects have long disappeared since i dry my sticks for several months, then sand and coat with poly. A very unique piece with great character. Handle grip n strap. I’m limited in number of characters i can use in drop down instructions, so’handle’ means you get a paracord wrapped hand grip plus braided wrist strap. A rope wrap can only go at the 50 mark or below. See my note in the very 2nd paragraph at top of this listing. Grip will be 5-6” in length, and made of 550 paracord that can be removed if needed for emergency survival uses. Keep in mind a hand grip will add to the girth. For a suede wrap instead of paracord, see’other upgrades’ below. I will then look and make sure a hand grip is possible at that spot (make sure it’s comfy and there are no protrusions or twisting diamonds there). If we don’t hear from you. I’ll put the hand grip where i presume someone who orders a stick of this height might like it. Eg, if it’s a tall stick, i’ll presume the person is also tall. How cord grip added. Cord is simply wrapped on top of itself without knots, tightened on top of initial and ending strands. Sometimes i put a small stud on the top and bottom ends to help hold them in place. Wrapped grip is then given several coats of wood hardener on top of the paracord until it’s soaked and coated good. Yes, you can untie the paracord and use it–it will just be a little stiff at first. Benefits of wood hardeneron paracord. Protect from snags and wear n tear of cord. Helps keep wrap from slipping out of place. Helps with grip, not as slippery under sweat or rain and mist. Won’t get dirty as much or absorb your sweat as much. Is warmer to grip than cold wood. Paracord braid width is approx. When open, and 6-7 in. When closed, with extra long tassels you can cut yourself after you adjust to fit. The wrist strap is made of about 15-18 ft. Of 550 paracord (or suede leather if you message me, see’note’ below). I’ll put it where i think seems best, assuming the end user’s height matches the height of a stick where the hand grip falls below 50 mark. Note re: leather strap: leather is for wrist straps only, but not for hand grips. It’s not in the drop down menu so folks don’t think they can get a leather handgrip for the price of this stick; but a suede leather hand grip is available in my shop (see below). If you want a leather wrist strap, select the color handgrip you want, then message me asap indicating what color suede leather you want for the wrist strap. How wrist strap added. Hole drilled, sanded and then coated with clear poly. Lanyard threaded through hole and tied loosely (so you can easily untie and adjust it before you tighten the knots for good). Colors: shown in last photo. Material: genuine real leather, soft suede. 1/16 for each strand (before braided). 2/8″-3/8″ (about half as thick as paracord wrist strap). Cord diameter: each 5/32″ (1/8″) (before braided). Working load limit: 35-55 lbs. Breaking strength: 550 lbs. Wood burned engraving is done by hand, not by a machine. You can add up to 30 characters. To add more characters, please message me first to make sure there’s enough room to put what you want engraved. If you’re absolutely sure what you want will fit, as you can see from the photos what parts have the lighter main wood without darker diamond markings, then order from the following listing for the extra characters. Suede leather hand grip. Check out our climbing monkeys shop. And make this unique staff that’s full of great character your very own journey companion today or get someone special that one of a kind gift they’ll cherish and never forget. This item is made of diamond willow wood and clear polyurethane finish, black cane protector, maybe 550 paracord or suede leather, maybe wood hardener on hand grip, maybe 2 brass tacks on handgrip. The style is rustic and zen.
