For sale is this single edge dagger with a twisted iron guard and custom sheath set with a carnelian gemstone. This would be a knife that would have been used at the supper table of nobility during the time of the middle ages, or more likely as a hidden dagger for personal defense. The stone that adorn the knife’s sheath is called a carnelian and is set in bronze. Both the stone and setting are cut and fabricated by me. The guard is made from 416 stainless and forged in-house. The file work on the back of the knife is called the vine and thorns pattern. Finally, the hidden tang of the knife is screwed in to the butt of the knife, which is made of ebony. The threads tapped into the ebony final have been reinforced with adhesive and left to dry overnight before the tang is screwed in. The end result is an extremely solid construction that will not come apart. The knife is functional as well as a nice example of my work. Many elements went into this piece, something not many knife makers can or will do. Use this knife, and hand it down to your grandchildren so they can use it too. The blade steel is 154-cm by crucible industries and the fittings are 416 stainless. The heat treat on this knife brings it to a 60 on the rockwell scale after tempering. Blade height 1 inch at its highest point. Blade width 3/16 of an inch. Rockwell hardness is taken to a 60 on the scale after tempering. Front guard is 416 stainless. Handle is 3 7/8 inches (9.84 cm) long by 1 inch (2.54 cm) in diameter at its widest. Handle material from front to back is, ebony, ironwood, ebony. Gem stone in the sheath is a carnelian. Weight with sheath is 7 ounces (264.6 g). Hand formed leather sheath is included. Also made by the maker.
