This is a stout, versatile camping knife that’s right in between the ability to slice & dice, and the ability to chop cleanly. The bead-blasted blade is a chinese variety called 9cr18mov steel. That means it contains chrome, molybdenum and vanadium and it is pretty stainless. In hardness and toughness it is similar to american 440c — it will chop without chipping, and will also hold a sharp edge. It has the weight to chop bones and tree limbs, you can feel it when you hold it in your hand. It is 12 7/8″ overall, with a 7 7/8″ blade, 5/32 thick and weighs almost twelve ounces. The handle is central american bloodwood with a water buffalo horn spacer. The bolster is solid copper, and the mosaic pins are home-made. The sheath is made from nine-ounce vegetable-tanned tooling leather and has a free-hand bat on the front. Dyed usmc black and finished with resolene.
