The steel used on this knife is 15n20. It is 100% hand forged high carbon steel knife. It comes with a cowhide hand-stitched leather sheath which can be used cover the blade when not in use and also to avoid rust. Things to remember / key takeaways. Always clean the blade after every use and oil it to avoid any rust. Vegetable oil can be used, also mineral oil can be used. If you plan to not use the cleaver as often then oil the blade area with mineral oil and cover it with wrapping paper or plastic this keeps the blade from getting rusted over time. This is not stainless steel that’s why it requires some additional care but that’s the beauty of high carbon steel.
