Just like normal silpoly membrane silpoly offers lower water absorption and stretch, and higher uv resistance than silnylon, all while being 15-30% lighter. This leads to tarps that weigh less and pack smaller, without breaking the bank. An average 7×9 membrane silpoly tarp weighs between 8-8.5oz, depending on features. This is a savings of anywhere between 1-3.5 oz over similar tarps made of silpoly or silnylon. Seam sealing and stuff sack included.
