








Working pipe tomahawk prevalent to the era 1750’s – mid-1800’s. The head is made from 4140 (40%) carbon steel and heat treated on the first inch of the cutting edge to 50 rockwell. The head measures 6 5/8 long with a 2 1/2 cutting edge. The bowl is ornate with hand filed flats and rings and is fully drilled for smoking. The upper spine of the head has decorative file work jimping, and the head has been given an’antiqued’ patina to represent age. The top cap is brass and held in place with brass escutcheon pins and decoratively filed. The cleanout is accessible by removing the decorative brass screw. The handle is 17 1/4 long, fully drilled, with a cast britannia lead free pewter smoking bit. The handle is curly maple and stained with aquafortis to bring out the character of the grain and sealed with 4 hand-rubbed coats of boiled linseed oil.
