Outdoor knife Tanto Carbon
This outdoor knife was handmade from 1,4034 steel. This steel is not quite as hard and sleek as sb1, but it gets even sharper and is less sensitive. The blade was hardened to around 58 -60hrc (hardness to rockwell) and treated in-75c to be frozen. The shape of the blade is inspired by modern tanto knives, but they should not be confused with the historical daggers of the samurai, even if they use their names. The handle was covered with handle shells made of carbon fiber-reinforced plastic or cfrp from its own production. These were glued with 2k adhesive and stabilized with 2 v2a pins. In the end, a brass gasse is inserted for a loop or fangriemen. The handle trays are finely sanded and polished. The blade is polished and extremely sharply sanded. The rugged geometry and tough rust-free steel make it an excellent edc nife.

This simple billhooks is modelled on japanese nata knives. Nata are traditional japanese knives, which are used today mainly for gardening or camping. They usually have straight blades and a blunt place (tip of the blade). The blade of this knife is made of c75 steel hand forged, a sturdy steel that can be sharpened very well. It was hardened differentially in the mud coat and reached at the cutting edge round 60hrc (hardness according to rockwell). The back stays softer and is very resistant to breakage as the knife bends rather than break. The knife is therefore very good-natured even in the case of gross mistreatment. The handle consists of two bowls of oak, which are additionally reinforced with a brass clamp. It is glued and also connected by two rivets to the rod, which extends far into the handle and thereby gives it stability. The wood was treated with food-wood oil and the clamp is provided with a rustic hammer-slap-look. The blade is etched and polished to create a silky finish and emphasize the hardness line (hamon). The cutting edge is additionally polished on japanese water stones to achieve the optimum of sharpness. The knife includes a traditional wooden knife sheath for storing and safely carrying the blade and a leather belt strap. Total length 30.7 cm. Blade length 16 cm. Blade width 2.4 cm. Blade thickness 5 mm. Handle length 14.7 cm. Knife sheath made of lime wood and leather. All parts of the knife were crafted. More detailed information on my website.
